Tropical Rainforest | Near the equator (warm); large amounts of rainfall; large population of plant growth; most species of all biomes. (example kinkajou- long tongue and tail.) |
Deciduous Forest | Forest- cooler places; small amounts of rain fall; eastern part of US. Trees lose leaves in colder months (maple, elm) which helps trees save food and water during winter months; |
Deciduous Forest (continued) | Animals hibernate (such as bears, frogs) and some animals change fur color to camouflage. Over population can occur resulting in a change in the food web. |
Grassland | Grassland- Midwest America had several tall grasses that covered a large amount of space.Grassland biomes are covered with many types of grasses and have few trees. The dead grasses form fertile soil. |
