Decline For example a civilization doing this would be getting smaller or doing poorly
International Trade Trade that occurs between countries
Urbanization The growth of cities- Jobs, through industrialization and factories attracted people to cities
Inflation In increase in the supply of money compared to goods, resulting in higher prices
Unemployment rate The percentage of the total labor force that is unemployed but actively seeking employment and can work
GDP per capita GDP divided by total population. This is not really wages but more an indicator of the standard of living
Unemployment People that are available to work and are actively seeking work but can’t find it
Economic Opportunity A chance to raise one’s economic status. Includes promotions of - health, education, general welfare.
Economic Systems Capitalism, Socialism, Market, Mixed, Planned, Traditional, Command, and Barter
Inflation Rate The rate, usually listed as a percentage, to compare prices = devalued dollar
Economic Growth The increase in the amount of goods and services produced by an economy over time. Shown as GDP
GNP Gross national product. The market value of all officially recognized final goods and services produced
Feudal Government A government set up with exchange in mind. It is based on a landowner and tenants. Work is exchanged
Citizen's Rights In a democracy it members are given certain rights and privileges
Direct Democracy Everyone votes on all or most of the issues
Tyranny This is an oppressive form of government. It has one absolute leader or ruler that is in charge
Representative Government A government where citizens elect a representative to go as their “voice” to make laws and decisions
Greek Governments Direct Democracy, Oligarchy, Monarchy, Tyranny
Monarchy One king/queen is in charge of decisions and is usually heredity
Republic A government in which the country is considered a public matter. Usually, leadership is attained by people vote.
Judaism Ancient Hebrews; Abraham, Moses, David, and Solomon were important leaders. Holy book - Torah
Islam Five Pillars - Profession of faith, daily prayer, almsgivings, and fastings
Plague A disease of mass quantity with no cure. Bubonic or black death is a prime example
Literacy the ability to read and write
Greco-Roman Architecture Any architecture that is from the ancient Roman and Greek periods. Columns, arches, domes, and spa pools
Ancient Civilizations Contributions Theater, drama, acting, comedy, philosophy, lonian, Doric, and Corinthian. Concrete, mortar, cement, etc.
Polytheism Belief in many or more than one god
Monotheism Belief in only one god
Legacy Anything handed down from the past, as from ancestor or predecessors
Archaeologist One who studies human activity in the past, primarily through the recovery and analysis of artifacts
Social Status Place in society is distinguished from other groups by such things as wealth, property, and certain rights
Cultural Diffusion The mixing or blending of two or more cultures through trade, conquering, or travel and more
Century A 100 year period
Christianity Gospels - writings about the life of Jesus. Jesus is the Messiah or savior. Disciples are followers of Jesus
Life Expectancy How long a countries people live on average
Roman Roads overland use of armies, officials, civilians, inland carriage of official communications and trade goods
