How did Wilson's 14 point plan differ from the Treaty of Versailles? The treaty sought to punish Germany, while the 14 point plan sought to address the actual causes of WWI like imperialism, secret alliances, and militarism
How were the 14 point plan and the Treaty of Versailles similar? They were both intended to prevent another war
Was the Treaty of Versailles successful at preventing another war? No
What organization was created after WWI to help countries solve international issues and prevent war? League of Nations
Why didn't the League of Nations work? US didn't join, it had no power to enforce anything, countries began to drop out
How did the Treaty of Versailles lead to WWII? It angered Germany who felt tricked into signing it and embittered at the war guilt clause and paying reparations. Germany also wasn't allowed to join the League
What does self-determination mean? The idea that a group of people have the right to form their own state (country), and form their own government.
What are reparations? Payment for a wrong
How were countries military effected by the Treaty of Versailles Countries were supposed to scale down their militaries
What happened to Germany's land as a result of the Treaty of Versailles? Some of it was broken up and put under Allied control
