mobilization | the assembly and movement of troops. |
entente | an understanding between nations. |
balance of power | a situation in which each side has equal power. |

Neutrality | a policy of not taking sides. Switzerland remained neutral during the Great War. |

soviets | committees formed by workers to represent their interests during the Russian Revolution. |
Bolsheviks | the most radical of the socialist groups, believed a small group could successfully overthrow the government. |
