bleach | to make whiter or lighter in color; remove the color from, by exposing it to sunlight or by soaking it with water and chemical (such as Clorox) |
delicate | clothes that are made of fabric or material that can easily be damaged when put in the washer with other clothes |
detergent | a cleansing substance that is made to be used for washing clothes by hand or in the washing machine |
drip dry or line dry | hang clothes on a clothesline, from hangers or on a drying rack |
dry clean | is a cleaning process that uses chemical solvents other than water, the solvents clean the delicate fabric that cannot withstand the rough and tumble of the washer and the dryer |
fabric | a cloth or material made by weaving, knitting, or felting fiber |
garment | any article or item of clothing |
gentle cycle | a setting in the washing machine that uses cold water and light agitation; selected when washing delicate fabric |
hand wash | to clean the garment by hand using a laundry detergent specifically made for hand washing |
iron | smoothing the creases on clothes, sheets and other fabric by pressing it with heated iron |
ironing board | a flat, cloth-covered board or surface, that is foldable and have legs, on which clothing, linens, or similar articles are ironed |
machine wash | to wash clothes and garments in the washer using the suggested laundry detergent |
stain removal | process of removing a mark or spot left by one substance on a specific surface like a fabric |
tumble dry | dry clothes by spinning in hot air inside the dryer |
