Civil War

The Civil War was mainly fought over what? Political power.
What did the Civil War do? It tore the nation apart and resulted in the death of more Americans than all other wars combined and thousands of fields, homes, families, and entire towns were destroyed.
What was the straw that brown up the union? Slavery fueling the states' rights issue along with the loss of Congress and Northern opposition to the new Fugitive Slave Law made the election of 1860 the straw that broke up the union.
Which states seceded in March of 1861 after Lincoln's inaugration? South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Lousiana, and Texas.
What were the South's advantages in the war? The Confederate States of America had a strong advantage in the fact that they were fighting a defensive war in familiar territory, Southerners came from rural enviroments and had more experience with firearms and horses & had a better military tradition.

What were the North's advantages in the war? more military potential with its larger population of 22 million and growing, more material goods such as money and credit, factories for manufacturing war goods, food production, mineral resources, and an established railroad system to transport all this
What was the first conflict of the war and who led the south? Fort Sumter was the first conflict of the war and the south was led by Beauregard
Who won Bull Run and why is this important? The South won Bull Run and this is important because both sides only expected this war to last three months and after this battle, the North became angrier and so everyone saw the war would last longer.
