Quadratic Function | The formula below that can be used to find the real solutions of the quadratic equation ax^2 + bx + c, when a=/ 0 and b^2 - 4ac >= 0 |
Parabola | The U-shaped graph of a quadratic funtion |
Vertex | The lowest or highest point on a parabola |
Axis of Symmetry | The Vertical Line that divides a parabola into two symmetric parts |
Focus | A fixed point on the interior of a parabola that lies on the axis of symmetry; A parabola "wraps around the focus |
Zero | An x-value for which f(x) = 0; A zero is located at the x-intercept of the graph of the funtions |
Maximum Value | The y-coordinate of the vertex of the graph of y= ax^2 + bx + c when a<0 |
Minimum Value | The y-coordinate of the vertex of the graph of y = ax^2 + bx + c when a>0 |
Vertex Form | A quadratic function of the form y = a(x-h)^2 + k, where a =/ 0; The vertex of the parabola is (h,k) |
