Waxing The moon appears to be growing.
Waning The moon appears to be shrinking.
Phases The illuminated portion that we see of the moon.
Moon's Orbital Tilt The 5 degree tilt of the moon.
Sun The only star in our solar system.
Satellite An object that orbits around another object in space.
Orbit The curved path of an object or spacecraft around a star, planet, or moon.
Solar Eclipse An eclipse in which the sun is obscured by the moon
Lunar Eclipse An eclipse in which the moon appears darkened as it passes into the earth's shadow.
8 Phases of the Moon New moon, waxing crescent, 1st quarter, waxing gibbous, full moon, waning gibbous, 3rd quarter, waning crescent.
Maria This word means seas.
High Tide The state of the tide when at its highest level because of the pull of the moon's gravity.
Low Tide The state of the tide when at its lowest level because of the pull of the moon's gravity.
Umbra The darkest part of the moon's shadow.
Penumbra The larger part of a shadow, less dark than the umbra.
Neap Tide Tide that occurs when the sun is at a right angle to the Earth and moon.
Spring Tide The tide that occurs when the sun, Earth, and moon line up.
