WAVES Rhythmmatic movement; Carries energy through matter or space; greater wave height greater the energy
PARTS OF A WAVE Crest, Trough, Wavelength; Amplitude (wave height)
TIDES Alternate rising and falling of the surface of the ocean and water bodies (i.e., gulfs & bays). Caused by the sun’s and moon’s pull of gravity on Earth’s water; Occurs twice a day usually
SPRING TIDES Tides that occur when the sun, moon and Earth align; Causes “very” high and “very” low tides; STRONG gravitational pull
NEAP TIDES Tides that occur when the sun, Earth and moon form a right angle; Tides tend to be “neither” very high or very low; Weak gravitational pull
SOLAR ECLIPSE Moon passes between the Sun and EARTH; Eclipse of Sun
LUNAR ECLIPSE Earth passes between the Sun and MOON; Eclipse of Moon
