Delta a nearly flat plain of alluvial deposit between diverging branches of the mouth of a river.
Foliated composed of or separable into layers.
Non-Foliated metamorphic rocks are formed around igneous intrusions where the temperatures are high but the pressures are relatively low and equal in all directions (confining pressure).
Moraine an accumulation of earth and stones carried and finally deposited by a glacier.
Artesian Well a well in which water is under pressure; especially : one in which the water flows to the surface naturally.
Hydrologic Cycle a conceptual model that describes the storage and movement of water between the biosphere, atmosphere, lithosphere, and the hydrosphere.
Stellar Nebula Theory also known as the nebular hypothesis, is the most widely accepted model explaining the formation and evolution of our solar system.
Guyot a seamount with a flat top.
Island Arc a type of archipelago, often composed of a chain of volcanoes, with arc-shaped alignment, situated parallel and close to a boundary between two converging tectonic plates.
Anthracite a hard, compact variety of coal that has a high luster. It has the highest carbon content, the fewest impurities, and the highest calorific content of all types of coal, which also include bituminous coal and lignite.
Bituminous coal or black coal is a relatively soft coal containing a tarlike substance called bitumen. It is of higher quality than lignite coal but of poorer quality than anthracite.
