Number Know How

Revision of basic rules and clues about whole numbers

What is a Prime number? A number that can only be divided by itself and 1
What is an Even number? Any number that can be divided by 2
What digits do even numbers end with? 0,2,4,6,8
What is an Odd number? Any number that 2 can't go into to.
What digits do odd numbers end with? 1,3,5,7,9
What is an 'integer'? A whole number.
If we multiply a number by 1000 how many zeros will the answer have? 3
If we multiply a number by 100 how many zeros will the answer have? 2
An index number tells us what? How many times a number will be multiplied by itself.
When we subtract one number from another number we will find the...? Difference
When we add 2 or more numbers together we find the...? Total or sum
When we multiply 2 or more numbers together we find the...? Product
Following BODMAS which part do we do first in '8 + 2 x 6' ? 2 x 6 because multiplication comes before addition.
Using BODMAS which part will we do first in ' (3-1) x 6' ? 3 - 1 because it's inside brackets.
Using BODMAS which part will we do first in ' 4 + 7 - 2' ? 4 + 7 as addition & subtraction are the same so work from left to right.
If I'm rounding 14 to 10's will it go up to 20 or down to 10? down because the 4 's lower than 5.
If I'm rounding 27 to 10's will it go up to 40 or down to 30 ? Up because the 7 is higher than 5.
If I'm rounding 120 to 100's will it go up to 200 or down to 100? Down to 100
If I'm rounding 760 to 100's will it go up to 800 or down to 700? Up to 800
If I'm rounding to 1000's will 9200 go up to 10,000 or down to 9000? Down to 9000
