entangle | to make tangled, snarled: to confuse or perplex |
flinty | composed of, containing, or resembling flint; unyielding |
sound | anything that people or animals can hear; free of damage; healthy or in good condition; to measure the depth of with a pole or a weight attached to a line; a body of water between two larger bodies of water or between an island and the mainland. |
uproot | to pull up or tear out of the ground by the roots; to force to leave a home, native land, or natural environment |
dingy | dirty or not cared for well; dull in color; not bright |
crag | a steeply jutting or overhanging mass of rock, as on a mountain or headland |
garnish | to decorate with something that adds another flavor, color, or texture; anything used to garnish food |
secure | free from fear, danger, care, or worry; able to be counted on; reliable; giving safety or tightly fastened; to get; to make safe, tight, tie up; to make a place safe from unwanted entrance or attack |
menace | that which presents a danger or threat; to direct a threat against |
shamble | to walk slowly, unsteadily, or awkwardly; a shuffling walk |
industrious | working hard; producing in an active way |
predicament | a difficult or dangerous situation with a solution that may be hard to find |
coddle | to treat with indulgence, as one would treat an invalid or baby; pamper; to simmer in water that is almost at the boiling point |
perilous | causing or involving great danger; risky; hazardous |
din | a loud, steady noise; to repeat over and over in a loud voice |
waft | to carry or cause to go gently on water or through the air; to float or be carried in air or on water; drift; to blow lightly, as wind; an odor, sound, or the like carried through the air; a wafting movement, as of a breeze or a wave of water |
vulnerable | able to be hurt or injured; open to attack or danger |
cranny | a small opening in a wall, rock, or other solid mass; crack or crevice. |
groom | a man who is about to be or has just been married; to make clean and neat in appearance; to wipe down, brush, and care for |

bustle | to move rapidly and energetically; a cushion or wire frame formerly worn beneath a dress to add fullness in the rear |
