astronomy An imaginary pattern of stars in the sky.
astronomer A scientist who studies the universe beyond earth.
rotation the spinning motion of a planet on its axis (generally a small movement).
revolution the movement of an object around another object.
orbit a model of the solar system in which Earth and other planets revolve around the sun.
constellation the path of an object as it revolves around another.
geocentric theory a model of the universe in which Earth is at the center of the revolving planets and stars.
Heliocentric theory The study of moon,stars,and other objects in space.
comet a loose collection of ice,dust,and small rocky particles with a long ,narrow orbit of sun.
gravity the force that pulls objects toward each other.
solar system referred to the sun,its planets ,and all other objects in orbit around the sun.
NASA The National Aeronautic and Space Administration.
meteor a streak light in the sky produced by the burning of a meteoroid in Earth's atmosphere is not a "shooting star."
telescope a device built to observe distant objects by making them appear closer.
