Weather and Climate Unit 8 - 6th grade

Compare and contrast weather and climate Weather is a shirt time and can change in minutes. Climate is long term and changes slowly over time.
What are the features of a locations weather? Air temperature , air pressure, fog, humidity, and cloud cover
How are clouds formed? The form water vapor condenses around particles in the air. Particles are specks of matter, such as dust or smoke. Billions of these tiny droplets come together to form this.

How does a cold front occur? And what weather does it bring? This occurs when cold air masses move south from the poles, they run into warm air masses moving north from the tropics. They bring sudden changes in weather. Spring and Summer = thunderstorms and tornadoes. Winter and Fall = snow
How does a warm front occur? And what weather does it bring? This happens when warm air masses run into cold air masses. This brings clouds and sometime a small amount of rain. It is more likely to be humid.
How does a occluded front occur? And what weather does it bring? This happens when warm air masses become trapped between two cold air masses. Cloudy weather and rain are typical.
How does a stationary front occur? And what weather does it bring? This happens when two air masses stop moving when they meet. This weather will bring clouds and rain for many days.
