Finding Locations on Earth Directed Reading

Parallels are a set of circles on the reference grid?? That describe positions north and south of the equator.
How did parallels get their name?? They run around the world parallel to the equator.
What is latitude?? The angular distance north and south of the equator.
What does each degree of latitude consist of?? 60 equal parts, called minutes.
What is a meridian?? A semicircle that runs from pole to pole.
What is the 0° meridian, which passes through Greenwich, England, called?? The prime meridian.
What is longitude?? The angular distance, measured in degrees, east or west of the prime meridian.
All locations east of the prime meridian have?? Longitudes between 0° and 180°E.
What is a great circle often used for?? Navigation, especially by long-distance aircraft.
What is true of the geomagnetic poles and the geographic poles?? They are located in different places.
What is the only line of latitude that is a great circle?? The equator.
What is the latitude of the equator?? 0° latitude.
What is the latitude of the North, South Pole?? 90° latitude.
What is the actual distance in kilometers of 1° of latitude?? 111 kilometers.
