When you scan something with a scanner, you are Scanning an image

The aperture is comparable to the pupil in the human eye
the part of the camera that controls how much light enters is called the diaphragm in a camera
the diaphragm in a camera is comparable to the iris in the human eye
The part of the camera that covers the aperture is called the shutter in a camera
The shutter in a camera is comparable to the eyelids in the human eye
the part of the camera that forms an image when light hits it is called the film in a camera
the film in a camera is comparable to the retina in the human eye
