Producers, Consumers, Bears, OH MY!!
| Term | Definition |

| Food Chain | Path by which energy passes from one living thing to another |
| Producers | Make their own food and are on the bottom of the food chain |
| Consumers | Hunt, gather, and store food because they cannot make their own |
| Herbivores | Animals that only eat plants |
| Carnivores | Animals that only eat meat |
| Omnivores | Animals that eat both plants and animals |
| Decomposers | Microorganisms that break down matter into smaller parts to return nutrients back to the soil |
| Scavengers | Animals that feed on dead plants and animals |
| Predator | An animal that captures and eats other animals |
| Prey | The animal that is captured and eaten |
| Food Web | Several food chains linked together |
| Raptors | Fierce hunters that include hawks, eagles, osprey and owls. |
| Talon | Sharp claws |
| Nocturnal | Animals that hunt at night |
| Vertebrae | Bones of the spinal chord |
| Niche | A specialized or specific need |
