What is the meaning of a renewable resource? A renewable resource is a resource that can be replenished throughout a few months, years, or decades.
What is a nonrenewable resource? A nonrenewable resource is a resource that takes millions of years to form.
What is a fossil fuel? It's any hydrocarbon that may be used as a source if energy.
What are the three main types of fossil fuels? Fossil fuels include coal, oil, and natural gas.
What are tar sands? Tar sands are mixtures of clay and and sand combined with water and varying amounts of black, thick tar called bitumen.
What is an oil shale? Oil shale is a rock that contains waxy mixtures of hydrocarbons called kerogen.
What is an ore? Ores are useful metallic minerals that can be mined at a profit.
What is solar energy? Solar energy is the use of the sun's ray to supply heat or electricity. It is also the Earth's most abundant energy resource.
What are the two advantages of solar energy? Solar energy has two advantages: the "fuel" is free and it's non-polluting.
What kind if machine makes wind energy? A wind turbine.
What is geothermal energy? Geothermal energy is harnessed by tapping natural underground reservoirs of steam and water.
What is hydroelectric power? Hydroelectric power is power generated by falling water.
What is tidal power? Tidal power is harnessed by constructing a dam across the mouth of the bay or an estuary in coastal areas with a large tidal range. The strong in-and-out flow that results drives turbines and electric generators.
What uses are there for water? Each day, people have many uses for water such as for drinking, bathing, cooking, and growing fresh food.
What is a runoff? A runoff is when water flows
What does Earth's land provide us with? Earth's land provides us with soil, forests, minerals, and energy resources.
What is conservation? Conservation is the careful use of resources.
What is the Clean Water Act (CWA)? The Clean Water Act (CWA) is an industry that helps to maintain pollution away from water.
What is recycling? Recycling is the collecting and processing.
What is air pollution? Air pollution is when there a poisonous or harmful chemicals inserted into the air.
