machine language | A computer programming language consisting of only binary digits (1s and 0s). It is considered a low-level language. |
low-level language | See machine language. |
high-level language | A programming language that uses coding that resembles human language, making the language easier for programmers to understand. Examples include Java, BASIC, and COBOL. |
compiler | A computer programming tool that translates an entire program into machine language once and then saves it in a file that can be reused over and over. |
interpreter | A computer programming tool or an application that reads, translates, and executes one line of instruction at a time, and identifies errors as they are encountered. |
