Math Vocabulary Words

Addend a number to be added to another.
Coefficient the number placed infront of the variable.
Denominator the number written below the bar line.
Difference the answer in a subtraction problem.
Dividend a number that is divided by a divisor.
Divisor the number by which the dividend is divided.
Expression part of an equation.
Factor a number that is multiplied together to get a product.
Fraction a number usually expressed in the form a/b.
Mean the average.
Median the number that is in the middle.
Minuend a number from which another is subtracted.
Mode the number that appears the most.
Numerator the number written above the fraction bar.
Product the answer in a multiplication problem.
Proportion two equal ratios
Quotient the answer in a division problem.
Range the highest number - the lowest number.
Rate a certain quantity or amount of one thing.
Ratio a relationship between two quantities.
Reciprocal a flipped fraction.
Subtrahend the number that is subtracted from a minuend.
Sum the answer in an addition problem.
Terms part of an equation.
Variable a letter representing another number you don't know.
