Algorithm A set of clearly defined, logical steps that solve a problem.
Application Software Allows you to perform a specific task.
Beta Testing A test version of software that allows people to input thoughts about the software and figure out bugs.
Bundleware Software included in the purchase of a new computer.
Flowchart A chart that shows the different paths a program will take depending on what data is inputted.
Inputting The process of using an input device to enter data.
Network License Rights to install programs on multiple computers.
Operating System An interface between the user or application and the computer hardware.
Patch Application fixes or small updates.
Service Pack A collection of patches, updates and application enhancements.
Single-user License Rights to install programs on a single computer.
Software A programming code written to provide instructions to the hardware so it can perform tasks, such as printing, displaying the Web page or dialog box, or saving a document on the hard disk.
Software as a Service A new software delivery method.
Software Development A multistep process that usually begins when someone recognizes a need to perform a task more effectively using a computer.
Software License Permission to use the program.
Software Piracy Unauthorized copying of software.
System Software Operating system and utility programs.
Update Major application changes.
Upgrade Revised versions of a software program, may require purchase of a new version.
Web Application Apps that don't need to be installed, instead they run over the web.
