What does it mean when a country has an autocratic government? ONE leader holds all power, citizens have NO power
What does it mean when a country has a oligarchic government? Small group of people with wealth or power
What does it mean when a country has a democratic government? The citizens hold the power by electing officials to represent them.
What is a government? Government is a body with the authority to makes laws, enforce those laws, and interpret the laws when disagreements arise. A government also oversees the general welfare of its citizens
What are the two most common DEMOCRATIC governments? Parliament and President
What is an anarchy? A condition of lawlessness or political disorder brought about by the absence of governmental authority.
What is an autocracy? A country ruled by a person, an autocrat, with absolute, unlimited power
What is communism? A single party holds the power and dominates all aspects of life in a country; the government owns large industries, businesses, and most of the land
What is a republic? A representative democracy where people elect representatives to exercise power for them.
What is the Islamic Republic? A republic government based on the laws of Islam
What i the Federal Republic? A country in which the powers of the central government are restricted and in which the states, colonies, or provinces, have some self-government; ultimate power rests with the voters who choose their governmental representatives
What is a theocracy? A form of government in which a Deity (God) is recognized as the supreme civil ruler, but the Deity's laws are interpreted by religious authorities
What is democracy? A form of government in which the citizens elect leader and rule by majority
What i a democratic republic? A country in which the supreme power in held by the citizens who are entitled to vote for representatives responsible for them.
What is a constitutional democracy? A country in which the sovereign power of the people is spelled out in a governing constitution
What is a parliamentary democracy? A president or prime minister is the head of state, but the people elect the members of the parliament
What is a monarchy? A government in which the supreme power is in the hands of a monarch, who rules over a state or territory, usually for life and by hereditary right
What is an oligarchy? Government by the few, sometimes a government in which a mall group exercises control especially for corrupt and selfish purposes; the citizens has a very limited role
What is a dictatorship? Form of government in which a ruler has absolute power; the citizens do not possess the right to choose their own leaders
What is a sultanate? Similar to a monarchy, but a government in which the supreme power is in the hands of a sultan, which is the head of an Islamic country
What is a totalitarian government? A government that controls the country without opposition; a government party has strict control of all aspects of life without any opposition
What is a Parliamentary Monarchy? A country headed by a monarch where actual power rests in the legislative body called the parliament

What are some freedoms of the UK? Right to vote, equal rights, freedom of speech, religion, press, assembly
