Ragnarok - Norse Myths

battle A large fight between two or more people or armies.
raged Past tense of 'rage'. To act violently.
clashing A fight or serious disagreement. A loud smashing sound.
snarling An angry or threatening growl often made with bared teeth.
blood-soaked To be covered in lots of blood. Imagine 'Carrie'.
nightmare A bad dream. A horrible experience.
crushing Smashing or squashing something.
swallowed Taken into the stomach through the mouth; ingested.
Odin Norse mythology: Also known as the All-Father, ruler of the Aesir, Brother of Villi and Ve, Fenrir kills him at Ragnarok.
prisoner Someone who is captured and put in prison.
growled To speak in a low, angry voice. An angry sound made by animals.
Thor Norse mythology: God of thunder. His weapon is a mighty hammer, Mjölnir. He is other depicted riding a goat-drawn chariot.
hammer A tool used to fix nails into wood. Thor's mighty weapon.
serpent A snake.
spat Past tense of 'spit'.
beaten Something or someone who is defeated.
staggered Swayed or walked unsteadily.
flowed To have moved as water does.
through From our Focus Text: The poison flowed ________ his veins.
veins Blood vessels that carry blood back to the heart.
darkness Blackness; void of light.
Loki Norse mythology: He is a trickster god, the son of a giant and goddess, a shape-shifter and the mischief maker in Viking legends.
glowed To shine brightly and steadily, especially without flame.
delight Happiness or self satisfaction.
despair The feeling that everything is wrong and nothing will turn out well.
fault Blame for a wrong doing.
laughed Made sounds showing amusement and happiness.
licked To be defeated or beaten. To used the tongue to wet something.
engulfed To surround and cover something or someone completely.
Asgard The heavenly dwelling of the Norse gods, the Aesir, and slain war heroes.
