Body Anatomy
Term | Definition |

Cardiovascular system | Closed circulatory system with one or more hearts and a network of blood vessels. |
Capillaries | Narrow blood vessels that can allow gasses and fluids to pass through it's thin walls. |
Arteries | Blood vessels that carry blood away from the heart. |
Interference | The process of reaching a conclusion by reasoning with evidence. |
Joint | A junction between two or more bones, usually allowing a form of motion. |
Red Blood cell | The blood cell that is responsible for making blood red(not the main purpose!) and transporting nutrients and oxygen around the body(Very important!) |
Tendon | A strip of connective tissue that connects bone to muscle, allowing muscles to move bones around, moving the part that the bone is supporting. |
Veins | Blood vessels that carry blood back to the heart after it has went around the body. |
Valves | Structures that can effect fluid travel. In the heart these are used to prevent blood from going the opposite way, which could be fatal. |
Sensory Neurons | Neurons that carry messages from receptors of senses to the brain stem to the brain. |
Chemical Breakdown | The breaking down of larger pieces into smaller pieces through the action of chemicals(ex. Hydrochloric Acid). |
Mechanical Breakdown | The 100% physical process of breaking bigger pieces of substances into smaller pieces without altering the chemical makeup of the substance. |
Bone Marrow | Where blood cells are made, red and white. Often found inside bones. |
Excretory System | A system consisting of specialized organs responsible for removing wastes from the body. |
Respiratory System | The system of organs that work together to take oxygen into the body and push carbon dioxide out of the body. |
Nervous System | The body system in living creatures(That are not just one cell!) that controls actions of internal organs and other muscles and collects information from the outside world and then sends this information as sensory information. |
Esophagus | A muscular tube connecting the mouth to the stomach, found in all multi-cellular beings, also called a gullet. |
Small Intestine | The longer and narrower intestine where fats and sugars are broken down and nutrients are absorbed. |
Large Intestine | The shorter and broader intestine where water from the remainder of the digested food that was not absorbed is mostly entirely removed, afterwords, the remains are removed from the body. |
Uterus | The section of the female reproductive system where an egg cell "mates" with a sperm cell(from a male) and develops into a baby. |
