coefficient | a number that is multiplied by a variable |
constant | a value that does not change |
evaluate | to find the numerical value of an expression |
substitute | to replace a variable with a number or expression |
integer | the set of whole numbers and their opposites |
additive inverses | the opposite of a number |
opposites | two numbers that are equal distance from zero on a number line |
absolute value | a number's distance from zero on a number line |
equation | a mathematical sentence that uses an equal sign |
inverse operation | operations that undo each other |
solution | the value or values that make an expression true |
equivalent | having the same value |
reciprocal | one of two numbers whose product is one |
PEMDAS | a way to remember the order of operations |
quotient | the answer to a division problem |
product | the answer to a multiplication problem |
sum | the answer to an addition problem |
difference | the answer to a subtraction problem |
