Solving Equations
Term | Definition |

distributive property | The property that states if you multiply a sum by a number, you will get the same result if you multiply each addend by that number and then add the products. |
commutative property | The property that states two or more numbers can be added or multiplied in any order without changing the sum or product. |

Equation | A mathematical sentence that shows two expressions are equal. |

Solution | A number that makes an equation true when it is substituted for the variable. |
Inverse | The operation that reverse the effect of another operation. |
Each | A key word for division that indicates a quantity to, for, or by every one of a group. |
Total | A solution to an addition problem. |
Evenly | A key word for division that indicates equal amounts. |
Increase | A key word for addition that indicates to add a quantity to another. |
Twice | A key word to multiply a quantity by two. |
