luster luster - the way minerals reflects light
hardness hardness - how easily a mineral can be scratched
cleavage and fracture cleavage and fracture - describes hows a mineral breaks.
streak streak - color of a mineral when its broken up and powered
color color - the most noticeable characteristics but the least reliable mineral.
special properties special properties - magnetism, striations, double refraction, effervescence with hydrochloric acid, and fluorescence.
texture texture - how minerals feel
density and specific gravity density and specific gravity - reflects the atomic mass and structure of a mineral.
