What are indications for therapeutic hypothermia? | CVA, ROSC, 18 years and older, mechanically ventialted, initiated within 6 hours of arrest, and unresponsive. |
What are contraindicatations for therapeutic hypothermia? | Less than 18 years old, terminal illness, platelet count < 50000, pregnancy, and dysrhythmias. |
What are the three phases of therapeutic hypothermia? | induction/cooling, maintenantce, and rewarming. |
What is the goal temperature during the cooling phase? | 33-35 degrees celcius. |
How long does the cooling phase last? | 12-24 hours. |
When does the rewarming phase start? | 24 hours after the cooling phase was initiated. |
At what rate do you increase the patients temperature? | 0.3 degrees C every hour. |
What is the goal temperature for rewarming? | 36 degrees C. |
