Computer skills terms that deal with desktop publishing

Located on the keyboard and number keypad and used to move the cursor to a new line. Enter/Return
A backspace key on a Mac computer keyboard that moves the cursor one space to the left, and usually erases the letter or character to the left. Key Delete Key
Key on the keyboard that moves the cursor a predetermined number of spaces; the default is usually 5 spaces; used to indent paragraphs. Tab Key
To select text, leave it where it is, and also place a copy of it in another location. Copy and Paste
To select text and move it to another location; deletes original text. Cut and Paste
Feature that allows you to find a word or series of words in a document and replace it with a different word or series of words. Search and Replace or Find and Replace
Word processing tool that checks the spelling of words in a document with the dictionary spellings. Spell Check
When text is lowered a little lower than the line of text. Subscript
When text is raised a little higher than the line of text. Superscript
A place to find synonyms for a selected word; finds alternate words or phrases. Thesaurus
Located at the bottom of a document, contains information such as page numbers. Allows the user to insert ordered values in a reserved space on the page. Footer
Located at the top of a document, contains information that identifies the contents such as a title. Header
To view a file on the monitor to see how it will look when it is printed Print Preview
Allows you to name or rename the file being stored, and to select the location where it will be stored. Save As
The command to name a file for the first time. File, Save As
A computerized method of writing, editing, saving, and printing text. Word Processing
The paper position where the width is greater than the height. Landscape
The paper position where the length is greater than the width. Portrait
