Theme | the subject of a talk, a piece of writing, a person's thoughts, or an exhibition; a topic |
Setting | the place or type of surroundings where something is positioned or where an event takes place |
Resolution | the action of solving a problem, dispute, or contentious matter |
Motif | a distinctive feature or dominant idea in an literary composition |
Exposition | a comprehensive description and explanation of an idea or theory |
Archetype | a recurrent symbol or motif in literature, art, or mythology |
Symbol | a thing that represents or stands for something else |
Rising Action | a series of related incidents build toward the point of greatest interest |
Précis | a summary or abstract of a text or speech |
Characterization | the process by which the writer reveals the personality of a character |
Climax | the most intense, exciting, or important point of something |
Protagonist | the leading character or one of the major characters in a drama, movie, novel, or other fictional text |
Plot | the main events of a play, novel, movie, or similar work, devised and presented by the writer as an interrelated sequence |
Falling action | the parts of a story after the climax and before the very end |
