'i' before 'e' after: | 'c' with the around of 'eeeee' e.g. belief, receive. |
When adding 'y' to word ending in 'e' you: | Drop the 'e' before adding 'y' e.g. noise + =y noisy. |
When a word ends in an 'e' the 'e' is usually kept when: | A suffix beginning with a vowel is added e.g. noise + less = noiseless. |
When a word ends in an 'e' the 'e' is usually dropped when: | a suffix beginning with a vowel is added e.g. love + able = loveable. |
The prefixes 'dis-' and 'mis-' never: | Drop their 's' even when added to a word beginning with 's' e.g. 'dis + ability = disability and dis + satisfied = dissatisfied. |
