Hct Amount of packed RBC in a given amount of blood
What do platelets do? Aid in clotting
Hemoglobin Major component of RBC. 85% of dry weight of RBC Carries 95% of oxygen to the cells Carries 27% of CO2 back to lungs
Types of Anemias Iron deficiency Hemolytic anemia - destruction of own RBC Vitamin D deficiency Sickle Cell Pernicious anemia - lack of intrinsic factor
