WordDefinition
Development The act or process of growth; progress
Environment The air, water, minerals, organisms, and all other outside factors surrounding and affecting an organism at any time
Germination When a seed begins to sprout or grow into a plant
Leaf The food-making part of a green plant
Life Cycle The stages of development an organism goes through as it grows and develops
Nutrient A substance that provides nourishment for living. Plants absorb nutrients mainly from the soil, and animals obtain nutrients from ingested foods.
Offspring Children or young of a parent
Organism An individual form of life, such as a plant, animal, or fungus
Reproduction The process by which organisms produce offspring and ensure survival of a species
Resource Any material that an organism needs for survival and obtains from its habitat
Seed A developing plant embyro surrounded by a protective coat and a food supply
Species A group of one type of organism that can mate and produce offspring
Survive To remain alive by obtaining protection and the needed resources
Vegetation All the plants or plant life of a place
