Unit 3 Vocabulary

Terminating Decimal a decimal number that ends or terminates. Ex. 3.56
Repeating Decimal a decimal in which one or more digits repeats infinitely. Ex. 7.23232323...
Rate a ratio that compares two terms measured in different units.
Proportion an equation that states two ratios are equivalent
Unit Rate A rate in which the second term's quantity is ONE unit
Distance the amount of space between two things or people
Average an estimation of or approximation to an arithmetic mean
Time The ongoing sequence of events taking place. Time can be measured by seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years for example.
Speed The rate at which someone or something is able to move or operate.
Measurement A number that shows the size or amount of something.
Solid Firm and stable in shape and volume.
Decrease To maker smaller. Operations of subtraction and division are typically associated with this term.
Liquid Having a consistency like that of water or oil, flowing freely but of constant volume, no definite shape.
Increase Growing larger or greater. Operations of addition and multiplication are typically associated with this term.
Length The measurement of something from end to end.
Scale Model A representation or copy of an object that is larger or smaller than the actual size of an object but maintains proportions of that object.
Scale The ratio of the length in a drawing or model to the length of the real object.
Actual Size The true dimensions of an object.
Scale Factor The ratio used to enlarge or reduce an object creating similar figures.
Scale Drawing A drawing that uses a scale to make an object smaller or larger than the actual object.
Good Having the normal expected qualities
Best Of the most excellence or highest in quality
Better Greater in excellence or higher in quality
