line | a straight path of points that goes on forever in both directions; Buzz Lightyear loves lines - "To infinity and beyond!" |
line segment | a part of a line that has 2 endpoints |
intersecting lines | lines that cross at one point |
parallel lines | lines that never cross or intersect |
ray | part of a line that has 1 endpoint and goes on forever in the other direction |
angle | a figure formed by 2 rays that have the same endpoint |
vertex of an angle | the common endpoint of 2 rays that form an angle |
right angle | an angle that forms a square corner or 90 degrees |
perpendicular | 2 lines, line segments, or rays that intersect to form right angles |
acute angle | an angle that measures less than a right angle or 90 degrees |
obtuse angle | an angle that measures more than a right angle or 90 degrees |
polygon | a closed plane figure made up of line segments |
side | a line segment forming part of a polygon |
vertex of a polygon | the point where 2 sides of a polygon meet |
diagonal | the line segment other than a side that connects 2 vertices of a polygon |
triangle | a polygon with 3 sides |
