basic math terms
| Term | Definition |

| Mean | the sum of n numbers divided by n |
| median | the middle of a numerically arranged set of numbers |
| mode | most frequently shown number |
| range | difference between the greatest and the lowest numbers in a set |
| supplementary angles | angles that add up to 180 degrees |
| complementary angles | angles that add up to 90 degrees |
| acute angles | an angle less than 90 degrees |
| obtuse angle | an angle more than 90 degrees but less than 180 degrees |
| straight angle | an angle that is 180 degrees |
| reflex angle | an angle more than 180 degrees but less than 360 degrees |
| right angle | an angle that is 90 degrees |
| parallel lines | two lines that never cross |
| perpendicular lines | two lines that intersect at a 90 degree angle |
| scalene triangle | a triangle that has no equal angles and no equal sides |
| isosceles triangle | a triangle that has two equal sides and two equal angles |
| equilateral triangle | a triangle that has all equal sides and all equal angles |
| polygon | simple closed curved shape with only segments as sides |
| quadrilateral | a polygon with four sides |
| perimeter | the distance around a figure |
| circumference | the distance around a circle |
