Election of 1800 Jefferson won the popular vote but in the house it was a tie (73 votes) but after voting 36 times in 4 days Jefferson won and became the third president
Speculators someone who invests in a risky venture hoping to get money
Protective Tariff gov't put a tax on all foreign goods brought into this country to prevent competition
Bank of the United States the national gov't deposited taxes in the bank and it issued out paper money and the paper money was used for banks and loans
Cabinet the 5 departments of State, War, and Treasury and the the offices of Attorney, General and Postmaster General
National Debt the total amount of money the gov't owes to others
Unconstitutional not permitted by the constitution
Alien immigrant
Sedition stirring up a rebellion against the gov't
Judiciary Act it stated that the supreme court had 1 chief justice and 5 associate justices George Washington named John Jay as the first Supreme Justice
Whiskey Rebellion their was a tax on all liquor made but the back country farmers protested cause they made the Whiskey out of corn so they went to Philadelphia, PA and protested until Washington and his militia scared them off and they payed the tax
Nuetrality Proclamation it stated that we would not side with Britain or France in the French Revolution and it kept us out of war with Britain and France
French Revolution much bloodier than our revolution they killed any loyalists and the king and his family
Jay's Treaty called for Britain to pay for the damages done to any american ships seized in 1793, but Americans also had to pay debts to British merchants from before the revolution
Washingtons Farewell Address it stated that he was retiring but he wanted the united states to remain nuetral with its relations with other countries and not to get into European affairs
Election of Adams Thomas Jefferson was his vice president and then he soon became the third president
