What is a Caution related to opening the over wing exit doors? When opening the over wing exit doors from inside or outside use caution, because they swing open quickly or serious injury can occur.
What is a Caution related to opening the service doors? When opening the service doors from the inside or outside ensure the girt bar is disengaged (orange warning flag across sight window) or else slide will automatically deploy.
How many passengers and pallets can the C-40A hold in PAX mode? 121 passengers, 0 pallets
How many passengers and pallets can the C-40A hold in COMBI mode? 69 passengers, 3 pallets
How many passengers and pallets can the C-40A hold in CARGO mode? 0 passengers, 8 pallets
Explain what movements are made along the lateral, longitudinal and vertical axis and which surface accomplishes the movement. PRY - P itch, R oll, Y aw LA LO VE - LA teral, LO ngitudinal, VE rtical EAR - E levators, A ilerons, R udders
What is the purpose of the wings? To provide lift and attachment points for flight control surfaces and engines.
What is the purpose of winglets? To provide the potential benefit of lowering operating costs by reducing fuel burn, improving payload capacity, and increasing range.
What is the purpose of the two engine pylons? They are the attachment structure connecting the engine to the wings, provide aerodynamic properties and protect engine related components.
What is the purpose of the radome? Provides aerodynamic properties and protection of electronics and radar components.
How many doors/hatches are used for normal maintenance and egress purposes? SIX (fwd passenger, fwd galley service, over wing-2, aft passenger, aft galley service)
How many main access doors/hatches does the C-40A have? FIVE (fwd cargo, aft cargo, APU access, fwd access, E/E compartment)
Where are the air stairs located? In the E/E compartment.
Where are the two CONTROL COLUMNS located and what are they used for? They are located in the cockpit and used to control the elevators.
Where are the RUDDER PEDALS located and what are they used for? They are located on the floor in the cockpit, fwd of the control column and are used for steering and yaw control.
Up to how many degrees can the C-40A be steered with the rudder pedals? seven degrees each side of center
Where are the two AILERONS located and what are they used for? They are located on the trailing edge of the outer wing. ROLL along the LONGITUDINAL axis.
Where are the RUDDER located and what is it used for? It is located on the trailing edge of the vertical stabilizer. YAW along the VERTICAL axis.
Where are the ELEVATORS located and what are they used for? They are located on the trailing edge of the horizontal stabilizer. PITCH along the LATERAL axis.
Where are the Trim tabs located and what are they used for? They are located on the trailing edges of the elevators, ailerons and rudder. They cause MINUTE CHANGES in the desired direction.
Where are the two KRUEGER FLAPS (leading edge flaps) located and what are they used for? They are located on the fwd wing, inbd of the engines. INCREASE LIFT and DECREASE STALL SPEED DURING TAKE-OFFS, LOW SPEED MANEUVERING AND LANDINGS.
Where are the LEADING EDGE SLATS located and what are they used for? They are located on the fwd wing, outbd of the engines. INCREASE LIFT and DECREASE STALL SPEED DURING TAKE-OFFS, LOW SPEED MANEUVERING AND LANDINGS.
Where are the TRAILING EDGE FLAPS located and what are they used for? They are located on the trailing edge of the mid and inner wings. INCREASE LIFT and DECREASE STALL SPEED DURING TAKE-OFFS, LOW
Where are the FLIGHT SPOILERS located, how many are there and what are they used for? (8) There is four flight spoilers (speed brakes) located on the upper surface of EACH wing. INCREASE DRAG and REDUCE LIFT, both in flight and on the ground. SUPPLEMENT ROLL.
Where are the GROUND SPOILERS located, how many are there and what are they used for? (4) There is TWO ground spoilers located outside of the flight spoilers on the upper surface of each wing. INCREASE DRAG, DECREASE SPEED on the ground.
What is the primary purpose of the Landing gears? To hold the airplane's weight when the airplane is on the ground.
What is the primary purpose of the Landing Gear Struts? To absorb landing forces.
What is the purpose of the MLG? To absorb landing forces, hold the airplane's weight and transmit the braking forces to the airplane structure.
Which hydraulic system supplies power to retract and extend the landing gears and for nose wheel steering? Hydraulic System A.
What type of brakes are installed on a C-40A? One multi-disk hydraulic powered brake per MLG.
Can you apply the brakes separately? Yes.
What is the purpose of the nose landing gear doors? To aerodynamically seal the nose landing gear wheel well to decrease drag.
