OVERTIME/COMPENSATORY TIME

Overtime is time authorized by a supervisor to work in addition to an employee’s scheduled regular hours.
Overtime compensation is governed by the applicable bargaining unit contract or employment plan
Court Overtime is time engaged in a court appearance; deposition; direct filing criminal cases; and other times resulting from the employee's Sheriff's Office function when required by subpoena, a judge, or the State Attorney, etc.
Overtime will be authorized and assigned only to keep a necessary function of the Sheriff's Office staffed and operating for a prescribed period of time
Overtime assignment and payment will be administered strictly in accordance with the applicable employee bargaining unit contract or employment plan and the Fair Labor Standards Act (F.L.S.A.
Overtime hours will be limited to maximum of on-duty time will total no more than 16 hours per day;Twenty hours of overtime assignment per pay period
Employees are responsible for monitoring their heir own overtime hours and complying with overtime limits
Pre-Planned Overtime This category of overtime is supervisor or agency initiated (i.e., planned overtime shifts).
All overtime requests for that event will be handled/approved by the designated Roll Call Supervisor no later than upon completing his first regular tour of duty following the special event
All E.I.S. overtime requests from appearing as a fact witness must be submitted to and handled/approved by the Commander of Internal Affairs or designee.
