Communications

TermDefinition
Communication This is a transfer of info from one person to another
Internal Communication This is communication that takes place inside a firm/organisation
External Communication This is communication that takes place between an organisation and people outside the organisation
Oral Communication Oral communication involves people or organisations talking to each other
Written Communication These are a number of methods of written communication: Letters, pagers, e-mail, text messages, memos, newsletters, reports, newspapers and fax
Visual Communication This method of communication involves presenting info in the form of pictures, charts or diagrams.
Memo This is a short note from one person in an organisation to another person or group of people to remind them of an important meeting or give them some other piece of info.
E-mail This method of communication involves exchanging messages between computer users
Internet This is a means of communication between people using the computers
Powerpoint A Powerpoint presentation is a set if slides containing pictures, text, sound and geaphics
Social Networking Many people today use the internet to communicate socially with their friends and family
Video Conferencing This is when people attending a conference in one venue can listen to and see a speaker in another venue any distance away
Fax Machine The fax machine allows written info to be sent easily ans cheaply between firms
Texting This modern method of communication onvolves sending typed messages between mobile phones
