TermDefinition
Global Warming This is a gradual increase in the overall temperature of the Earth's atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect
Greenhouse Gases A gas that contributes to the Greenhouse effect by absorbing infrared radiation; example: carbon dioxide, and chlorofluorocarbons
Greenhouse Effect This is the trapping of the sun's warmth in a planet's lower atmosphere
Acid Rain This is rainfall made by atmospheric pollution like the burning of coal and other fossil fuels for example; and that can cause environmental harm (typically to forests and lakes)
Pollution Something that has poisonous or harmful effects on the environment (like smoking, the pollution in the air is rising, etc.)
Adapt Making something or yourself more suitable to something else (in other words, getting used to a new place with a new climate, etc.)
Depend To be controlled or determined by, or to rely on
Modify To make partial or minor changes (to something)
Natural Disaster A natural hazard, something we can't prevent from happening or control necessarily (for ex.: tornadoes, hurricanes, etc.)
Deforestation The process of cutting down forests of trees for special purposes like wood, and other supplies
