Geosphere The solid part of the earth that consists of all rock
crust is composed almost entirely light elements
mantle is the layer beneath the crust
core is composed of the densest elements
lithosphere earth's outer layer
asthenosphere is the layer beneath the lithosphere
tectonic plates these plates glide across the underlying asthenosphere
erosion wears down rocks and makes them smother
atmosphere nitrogen oxygen carbon dioxide and other gases are all parts of this mixture
tropspehere extends 18 km above earths surface
stratosphere extends 18 km to an altitude of 50 km
Ozone almost all the ozone in the atmosphere is concentrated
Radiation is the transfer of eergy
Conduction flow of heat from a warmer object to a colder object
Convection is the transfer of heat by air currents
greenhouse effect gases trap heat near the earth
water cycle water cycle includes 1. evaporation,2.condensation,3.precipitation
Condensation water vapor forms water droplets
precipitation droplets fall from clouds as rain
salinty concertration of the salt water
fresh water 3% of the water is fresh
biosphere life is in relation to the size of the planet
