crust earths thin outer laer, composed of mainly light elements.
mantle the layer beneath the crust, makes up 64% of the earths mass
Core innermost outer layer, composed of the densest elements with a radius of approx. 3,400 km
lithosphere all of earths outer layers.
asthenosphere the layer beneath the lithosphere. plastic, solid layer f the mantle made of rock that flows ery slowly.
tectonic plates the outer most layer of earth divided into seperate pieces that move seperately.
troposphere extends to about 18 km above earths surface. almost all the weather occurs in this layer
statosphere extends from 18 km to about 50 km. temp rises as the hight increases because the ozone layer absorbs the heat.
Ozone O3. molecule made up of 3 oxygen atoms.
Radiation the transfer of energy acrosss space and in the atmosphere.
Conduction the transfer of heat from a warmer object to a colder through direct contact.
convection the transfer of heat through air currents
Greenhouse effect the process by which gases trap heat against the earths surface.
water cycle continuous movement of water into the air, onto land, and the back
evaporation process by which the water is heated and rises into the atmosphere as water vapor.
condensation water vapor condensing back to water onto dust or other particles.
