TermDefinition
Artifact any thing or material object produced or shaped by human craft Ex: tools , pottery , coins
Assumption Something taken for granted or accepted as true without proof or evidence.
Bias A personal judgement; a leaning thought towards or against a certain person, group, or idea
Evidence A selection of relevant data that answers questions or supports a conclusion. Examples: Written documents, oral accounts, and artifacts
Fact something that can be proven to be true
Hypothesis an educated guess; assumed, but not positivley known
Inference A conclusion you draw based on evidence
objective Responding to facts without letting personal bias of feelings interfere when making a judgement. Based on facts; unbiased
Point of view An induvisuals way of looking at or thinking about something
Primary Source A firsthand account; an eyewitness of an event. Reflects the induvisual view point of a participant or observer.
Secondary source a work that interprets or analyzes a historical event or time period. An account provided the fact by people who did not directly witness or participate in the event
Stereotype A generalization usually exaggerated, often offensive and untrue, that is used ti describe or distinguish a group
subjective a conclusion coming from an induvisual viewpoint or bias. Not objective or fair
