Term | Definition |

problem | a question that defines what you are trying to solve in the experiment |
problem requirements | must be a question, must be measurable, in 3rd person |
hypothesis | prediction, educated guess, what you think will happen |
hypothesis format | If (this is done), then (this will happen); 3rd person |
procedure | steps that anyone could follow to do the experiment |
procedure format | numbered steps; variables, constants and controls identified; 3rd person |
data | table and graph |
data table/ T-chart | independent variable on left, dependent on right, must have a title and units for each variable |
graph | must include: title (including both variables), axis (x and y), interval (tick marks for the scale you're using on the graph), labels (both axis must be labeled), SI units (need units for both axis) |
line graph | variables are related to each other, shows change over time |
bar graph | variables not related, used for comparing things |
pie graph/circle graph | for percentages, must have a key |
conclusion | summarizes results and explains hypothesis |
conclusion format | restate hypothesis, explain data, accept or reject hypothesis, include sources of error, in 3rd person |
