Definitions of Graph

Definitions and Graphs and Probability

TermDefinition
Mode The number that occurs most often in a data set.
Median The middle number in a data set.
Mean The average of a data set.
Range The max number minus the min number of a data set.
Maximum The highest number in a data set.
Minimum The lowest number in a data set.
Inter Quartile Range (IQR) The 3rd quartile minus the 1st quartile of a data set.
Outlier(s) The number(s) that throws the data set off balance.
1st Quartile The mean of the data between the lowest number and the actual mean.
3rd Quartile The mean of the data between the actual mean and the highest number.
Line Graph Data in a graph represented with lines.
Bar Graph Data in a graph represented with bars that do not touch.
Pie Chart Data in a graph represented in a circle.
Histogram Data in a graph represented with bars that do touch.
Pictograph Data in a graph represented with pictures.
Double Bar Graph Data in a graph represented with two bars.
Scatter Plot Data is represented with a X above each number.
Stem and Leaf Plot Data is represented by writing down the tens digit in a column and then writing down the ones digit next to it.
Box and Whisker Plot The mean, 1st quartile, 3rd quartile, and outliers are all represented in the graph.
Double Line Graph Data in a graph is represented with two lines.
