Weather The condition of the atmosphere at a certain place and time
Water Cycle The continuous movement of water from sources on Earth's surface - such as lakes, oceans, and plants - into the air, onto and over land, into the ground, and back to the source
Water Vapor Moisture in the air
Humidity The amount of water vapor in the air at a certain place and time
Relative Humidity The amount of water vapor in the air compared with the maximum amount of water vapor that the air can hold at a certain temperature
Saturated When air has a relative humidity of 100% or hits its dew point
Psychrometer An instrument that is used to measure relative humidity
Condensation The process by which a gas becomes a liquid
Dew Point The temperature at which a gas condenses into a liquid
Stratus Cloud Clouds that form in layers
Nimbostratus Cloud A stratus cloud that produces continuous rain
nimbo- or -nimbus Describes clouds that produce rain
Cloud A collection of millions of tiny water droplets or ice crystals
Cumulus Cloud Puffy, white clouds that tend to have flat bottoms
Cumulonimbus Cloud Large clouds that create thunderstorms
Fog A stratus cloud that has formed near the surface
Cirrus Cloud Thin, feathery, white clouds found at high altitudes
Cirrocumulus Cloud A cumulus cloud that has formed at a high altitude
alto- Describes clouds that form at middle altitudes
