Korean Conflict This is when the country of Korea was split into two. The north was communist and influenced by the Soviet Union.
McCarthyism Joseph McCarthy started a movement where he started to accuse thousands of Americans as being secret Soviet spies.
Superpowers This is when a country has a strong military, economic, and politics can influence events worldwide.
Sputnik This was the first satellite ever launched into space. It was launched into space by the Soviet Union.
NASA The U.S. started the National Aeronautics and Space Adminisration to launch U.S. satellites and missiles to counteract the Soviet Union.
John F. Kennedy was president during 1961-1963 and he established the peace corps

bays of pigs invasion in 1961 the u.s. supported cuban refugees and the u.s. forgot to provide air support so the invasion failed.
cuban missile crisis in 1962 the u.s. discovered that the soviet union was building nuclear missiles. so the u.s. set up a blockade around cuba to protect them.
