Linear Systems
Question | Answer |
---|---|
Systems of equations | two or more equations with the same variables |
consistent | has at least one solution |
inconsistent | it has no solutions |
independent | it has exactly one solution |
dependent | it has an infinite number of solutions |
substitution method | one equation is solved for one variable in terms of the other |
elimination method | eliminate one of the variables by adding or subtracting the equations |
constraints | the inequalities |
feasible region | the intersection of the graph |
bounded | when the graph of a system of constraints is a polygonal region |
vertices | maximum or minimum value of a related function always occurs at one of the vertices |
unbounded | system of inequalities forms a region that is open |
linear programming | process of finding maximum or minimum values of a function for a region defined by inequalities |
ordered triple | the solution of a system of equations in three variables x,y and z |
