Chapter 1 (敬語)

ぺらぺら used to describe one's (foreign speaker's) fluency in a language 「ジャンさんは日本語がぺらぺらだ。」
ちゃんと "properly" or "in the right way" 「ちゃんと座って。」
さっさと crisp, fast pace 「さっさと起きて。」
ばらばらに "seperately" or "scattered" 「試験を始めよう。ばらばらに座って。」
きょろきょろ curiously or furtively looking around 「試験の時に、きょろきょろしてはいけない。」
「好きこそ物の上手なれ」 What one likes, one does well. 「すきこそもののじょうずなれ」
「能ある鷹は爪を隠す」 A wise hawk hides its claws. He who knows best says the least. 「のうあるたかはつめをかくす」
「礼も過ぎれば無礼となる」 When one is too polite, it borders on rudeness. 「れいもすぎればぶれいとなる」

渡す to hand over; pass (to) (V1) わたす
これは少しですが... This is a small gift (used when presenting someone with a gift)

また、いらして下さい。 Please come again (more polite than また、来て下さい。)
畏まりました。 Certainly, Sir/Madam (used to politely acknowledge a request) かしこまりました
申し訳ございませんか。 I'm sorry (polite version of ごめんなさい。) もうしわけございませんか
とんでもございません。 Don't mention it (politely denies what the other person says)
